Bahrain summers are long and intense, and the last thing you want is an AC breakdown in August. Catching problems early saves money and discomfort. Here are ten warning signs to watch for.
1. Weak or warm airflow
If the air feels less cold than usual, the cause may be low refrigerant, a dirty coil or a failing compressor.
2. Water leaking indoors
A blocked drain line or frozen evaporator coil often leads to dripping water and wall damage.
3. Strange noises
Grinding, rattling or squealing sounds point to worn bearings, loose parts or fan problems.
4. Bad smells
Musty odours mean mould or bacteria in the coil or drain tray – a deep clean is needed.
5. Frequent on/off cycling
Short cycling can be caused by thermostat faults, dirty filters or incorrect gas charge.
6. Rising electricity bills
An inefficient AC works longer for the same cooling. Servicing can cut consumption noticeably.
7. Ice on pipes or coil
Ice formation usually signals low gas or poor airflow.
8. Error codes
Blinking lights on inverter ACs indicate sensor or PCB faults.
9. Outdoor unit not running
Capacitor and contactor failures are common in summer heat.
10. High humidity indoors
Your AC should remove moisture. Sticky air means it is not working properly.
